Interview Questions
1) Firstly you have a single out right now titled “Confident” which is doing pretty well on the web. But can you tell us what makes your music different and is there a special formula you have behind making great music people can jam to?
What makes my music special is my ability to relate to the listener and create a theme song. Every song is your song. Every song is an anthem. When I write my music, I dump so much passion into my creative thought process without boring you. I always find a way to maintain a level of energy in my flow.
I was contacted by a Jive A&R who had been keeping a close watch on my indie success. He felt Jive was in need of a hip hop heavy hitter seeing as how most of their artist are pop/r&b. They flew me in to meet with President of Urban and former manager of The Notorious BIG Mark Pitts. I performed a showcase of records for the label execs and blew them away! From there, it was in the hands of my manager and my attorney.
3) You’ve been around for a while and have worked with quite a few people in the business, who’s the most fun and creative to work with but also pushes
you the hardest?
Honestly, I’d have to say my manager/business partner Armah “MR.G” David. This dude is always in every session. If something isn’t perfect, he’s like “nope, do it over”. Tough love but we get things done.
4) For people who don’t know you can you explain what it’s like to be you?
Being me is like being a superhero. I have to know when to be Bruce Wayne and when to be Batman. It’s a constant battle between the music and reality.
Successful, platinum, CEO of my label, developing and introducing the world to some of the it’s hidden treasures known as artist.
6) Can you share with us some of the biggest lessons you’ve learned in the music business?
Always make the music YOU want to make. Be yourself cause that’s who got you this far. Why change now?
7) What is the best part of being a young celebrity?
The ladies of course! I’m such a gentleman.
If you weren’t famous what would you be doing right now?
I was very athletic growing up so I’d be in the NBA or a professional Boxer.
9) This maybe the most anticipated question yet, What songs or albums are in your playlist on your iPod or mp3 player?
Besides my own, BIG’s Greatest Hits, Kanye’s Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Drake’s Thank Me Later.
“Never sleep with a woman you wouldn’t marry or have kids with cause If you slip up with a duck you fucked!” – my Mom
11) You’re on the verge of mega-stardom. Any tips for young artist looking to make a splash in the music industry?
Be original. Don’t be afraid to try something new or second guess your ideas.
12) If you were to start over again, what might you change or do differently?
Absolutely nothing. Everything I’ve been through has been a lesson learned or a blessing in disguise.
13) Is there anyone that you look up to and model yourself on? (You can name more than one)
Of course I idolize the usual suspects but I really look up to my Mom and those in my inner circle. They allow me to be me and accept me flaws and all.
14) Do you have any suggestions for coping with set-backs and dealing with adversity?
No struggle no progress. What doesn’t kill us really does make us stronger. The only way to overcome adversity is to keep pushing.
True, but for some of us gossip is free promotion.
16) Before you go can you tell everyone out there what they can expect to hear or see from you this year, Like a video, mixtape, album, photoshoots, or more interviews?
Stay tuned for a classic mixtape/EP and a timeless album. While I’m in the kitchen cooking, I’ll keep the freestyle videos, leeks and other appetizers coming!
